Scorpius is one of the most distinctive zodiac constellations, easily recognizable by its curved tail of stars. Its brightest star, Antares, is a red supergiant so large that if placed at the center of our solar system, it would extend past the orbit of Mars. The name Antares means "rival of Mars" in Greek, because its reddish color resembles the planet.
